TULSA, Oklahoma – Tulsa County Drivers may encounter DUI checkpoints the week leading up to the 4th of July holiday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol plans on conducting the sobriety checkpoints in Tulsa County Thursday and Friday evenings.

"The main focus of this special emphasis is to arrest DUI and alcohol offenders and increase public safety," said Captain Jerry Reagan in a news release.

The checkpoints will be in areas where troopers see a lot of DUI violations.

OHP responded to 15 alcohol-related collisions over the 4th of July weekend last year, and made 86 DUI arrests statewide.
