BRAGGS, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said two people were killed in a collision involving an ambulance and another vehicle near Braggs Tuesday afternoon.

Troopers said a 1992 Chevy Corsica driving south on State Highway 10 crossed the center line and hit the ambulance head on.

Rebecca Smith, with Muskogee County EMS, said the ambulance was en route to the hospital from the Gore area.  It was not running its lights and sirens, Smith said.

The OHP said the driver of the car, 32-year-old Carrie Cash, died in the crash.  She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the accident report.

Her passenger, six-year-old Holden Collins, also died at the scene.

Troopers said both Cash and Collins were pinned for nearly two hours before being freed.

A third passenger, identified as 32-year-old Amanda Coffey, was transported to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition.  The OHP said Coffey and Collins were both wearing seatbelts.

Trooper said two medics and a patient were onboard the ambulance.

The OHP said the driver, 37-year-old Karen Swimmer, was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition.  Troopers said she was wearing a seatbelt.

The other medic, identified as 34-year-old Chance Bates, was transported to a Tahlequah hospital in stable condition.  Bates was assisting the patient in the ambulance, identified as 68-year-old Elsie Mullen, and was not wearing a seatbelt.

Mullen was airlifted to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition, troopers said.

The OHP said it is not sure what caused Cash to cross the center line and collide with the ambulance.

Crews shut down Highway 10-A near Camp Gruber where the accident happened for more than two hours while the scene was cleaned up.
