The DEQ said blue green algae was found in Ketchum Cove and Party Cove Wednesday.

BGA was confirmed near Bernice State Park, in parts of Horse Creek and Duck Creek, last Friday, June 24, 2011.

Most BGA is not toxic, but toxins can be produced in some algae blooms.

"GRDA and ODEQ just want the public to remain careful and vigilant," said GRDA Corporate Communications Director Justin Alberty.

"There are areas of the lake where BGA has been confirmed, and there are other areas being tested. We just want lake users to be aware."

The DEQ said there is potential for BGA in other areas of the lake. Water samples were collected from Woodward Hollow and Honey Creek Wednesday.

According to a fact sheet from the DEQ, blue green algae may look like green, bluish, brownish, or reddish-green paint. It may look like a thick green mat when it washes on shore.
