TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tanker cars derailed from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks in the 1700 block of SW Boulevard near Interstate 244 Saturday afternoon. The derailment will cause some freight delays until the tracks are cleared, according to a Burlington Northern spokesperson.

Nine cars went off the tracks and seven turned over on their sides. The tanker cars carry anhydrous ammonia but are believed to be empty.

BNSF has sent an environmental team to the site to make sure there were no spills or environmental impact from the incident.

The cars left the main track right at the entrance to the railroad yard located on the south side of the Arkansas River Bridge.

No one was injured. The company will bring in heavy equipment from Tulsa and a Wellington, Kansas location to clear the track and repair the tracks.

They did not have a time estimate for repairs.
