Drillers Can't Keep Momentum Going In Loss To San Antonio

Posted: Updated:

TULSA, Oklahoma – One night after setting several offensive records, the Drillers put up a much less impressive performance in a 4-2 loss to San Antonio.

The Missions' pitching did a much better job containing a Tulsa team that went off for 17 runs the night before.

Casey Kelley picked up the win for San Antonio, giving up four hits and one run in five innings.

Tulsa pitcher Cory Riordan fell to 1-8 on the year in the loss, giving up three runs in five innings on the mound.

San Antonio struck first as James Darnell homered in the first at-bat of the second inning.

But Tulsa responded in the bottom of the fourth on a double from Scott Beerer, driving in Ben Paulsen to tie the game.

The Missions got the job done with home runs once again, however, using two homers in the sixth to drive in their final three runs. All four runs in the game for San Antonio came from homers.

The Drillers' Wilin Rosario sent a solo shot over the center field wall in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to spur a Tulsa comeback.

The teams will meet for a 7:05 p.m. holiday game at ONEOK Field on Monday.
