TULSA, Oklahoma -- The heat continues to beat down on northeast Oklahoma and it doesn't look it will get better anytime soon.

A number of counties are under a heat warning which will run until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Those counties include Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Tulsa, Rogers, Pawnee, Washington, Osage, Pittsburg, Sequoyah, McIntosh, Muskogee, LeFlore, Latimer and Haskell.

This dangerous heat is expected to persist this week and a heat advisory is in effect for the remainder of the week.

With the heat index, it will feel more like 110 to 115.

People are advised to take extra precautions if working outside in the heat and to reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours.

There is also a high fire danger through the rest of the week due to the hot weather and persistent drought conditions.
