Heat Alert Continues For Tulsa Area Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

TULSA, Oklahoma – It's been weeks since we've had a break from the 90 and 100 degree temperatures.

Tulsa saw a record warm morning low of 86 degrees Monday. The previous record was 83 degrees, set in 2009.

The record-breaking heat has prompted EMSA to issue a heat alert for Tuesday.

On Monday, EMSA paramedics responded to sixteen patients with symptoms of heat-related illness.

One of those cases was classified as serious.

EMSA says this brings the total of heat-related patients since June 1, 2011 to 141.

In a news release from EMSA, as the night time temperatures are staying in the mid 80's the temperatures in the morning jumps up as soon as the sun rises making it hotter for more hours in the day.

More and more heat calls are being reported in the evening hours as people have spent all day in the heat.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone says while the heat is here to stay for at least the rest of this week, there is a chance for showers Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning.
