TULSA, Oklahoma -- Students at Tulsa Community College are thinking outside the box, the diaper box that is.

The project that Jerrilyn Eisenhaur gave to her managerial accounting class may seem unusual to some, but it's going to a good cause.

Students worked eight weeks organizing a baby shower to benefit Emergency Infant Services in Tulsa. Students got real world experience by organizing cost sheets and payrolls, but they also learned the importance of giving back to the community.

"I got some questions, like ‘this isn't like the book, this isn't exactly like the textbook, this is more real-world,' and that's what I wanted them to see. Accounting is more than just numbers," Eisenhaur said.

Emergency Infant Services specializes in helping low-income families and provides diapers, clothing, food, and medication to children in need.
