TULSA, Oklahoma -- Physically and mentally handicapped contestants gathered in Tulsa Saturday to show off their talents on horseback.

The competition consists of two classes, the assisted and unassisted. Everyone gets a trophy; unassisted riders are judged by a panel.

This year's mission for the event, "To provide equality through equine activity."

"But when you look in their face, and you see the determination in their eyes - and when they're out there competing, it means everything to them," said Chairman Jarrell Jackson.

The Palomino horse breeders association holds fundraisers throughout the year to put on this event.

And it's the only horse show in the country for special needs riders.
