JACKSON COUNTY, Oklahoma – A one-car accident in Jackson County killed an Altus man just before midnight on Saturday.

A Ford pickup truck driven by 22-year-old Brandon Hollenbeck was eastbound on County Road 158, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Hollenbeck was passing another car at high speed and eventually lost control of his truck, hitting a culvert. The truck rolled two and a half times before coming to rest on its top. Hollenbeck was thrown out of the truck during the accident.

Hollenbeck was transported by Jackson County EMS to Jackson County Memorial Hospital; however, he was pronounced dead on arrival due to severe head injuries.

According to the report, Hollenbeck wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and the airbag did not deploy in his truck during the accident.

Troopers said there was an odor of alcohol on the driver. The cause of the wreck is listed as unsafe passing.
