Well, the countdown is on! We are seven weeks away from the 2011 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Can you believe how quickly this year has flown by? The blizzard in February seems like a distant memory as we labor through these triple digit temperatures. But coming up in a month and a half, we'll be lacing up the shoes and heading out for this year's race!
Last year's race saw more than 12,000 participants and nearly $1 million dollars raised in Tulsa to help in the fight against breast cancer. This year we have some new things to celebrate, and I hope you'll join me Saturday, September 17th!
This is the 15th year for Komen Tulsa. Each year, the race has grown. In fact, we've practically outgrown the race site at 81st & Lewis so this year, the race is moving! This year's race will be held in downtown Tulsa! We're meeting at ONEOK Field and will wind our way through downtown and end up back at the ballpark. Vendors will be set up all around the mezzanine area and the survivors will have a special area to be recognized! I'm really looking forward to it.
I hope you're already making plans to form a team but if you'd rather, you can join my team. Log on to http://www.komentulsa.org/ to join. Mark the calendar and join me and my family as we Race for the Cure!
