RUSH SPRINGS, Oklahoma – Last season was not the kind of year the Rush Springs Redskins are used to. They won at least 11 games every year since 2004, until they went just 2-8 last season.

The Redskins struggled on both sides of the ball, scoring just 11 points per game and giving up an average of almost 40 points. They were shut out twice, and in those two games surrendered a total of 111 points.

Rush Springs is clearly in the middle of a rebuilding period, and in order to break out of it will need some young players to step up.

The offense will have new starters at several skill positions, beginning with sophomore quarterback Sheldon Glass. Standing at 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds, Glass does not have ideal size, but he does have a nice target in senior wide receiver Kevin Pittman.

In the backfield, the Redskins will rely on two running backs – senior Alan Borski and sophomore Brodie Helton.

The linebackers will make up the core of the defense, featuring sophomore Terry McCartney, senior Justin Harper and junior Joseph Lacobon.

The defensive line will be led by senior Cody Meadows and junior Trevor Gore, and the secondary will need sophomore Weston Depriest to step up and assist senior Collin Cox at cornerback.

Rush Springs will begin trying to rebuild Sept. 4 at home against Apache, which crushed the Redskins 44-6 in last season’s opener.
