EL RENO, Oklahoma – The Indians are starting off strong this year, celebrating Friday night with their first home-game win of the season in their newly-renovated stadium.

The City of El Reno approved a $30 million Capital Improvements program, in which $2.2 million was allocated toward the Indians’ Memorial Stadium upgrade.

The team’s fans previously sat in stands installed in the early 1940s, but enjoyed their new home-side bleachers and other amenities Friday. The city’s mayor, Matt White, spoke at the September 18 event, which was also the Indians’ homecoming game.

Seniors Charissa Jones and Cameron Ross were named Homecoming Queen and King, respectively. While the team and fans enjoyed the upgrades to Memorial Stadium, further improvements to the football field are expected to get underway this winter.

The El Reno Indians are headed into district play this year 3-0. They’ll travel to Altus September 25 to face the Bulldogs who are currently 1-2.
