BLANCHARD, Oklahoma – The Blanchard Lions kept things close throughout the game, but were never able to overtake Clinton on the way to a 33-13 loss Friday.
Clinton (5-3, 3-2) played the majority of the game without star running back Delans Griffin, but was still able to generate a consistent rushing attack.
The Red Tornadoes took a 12-0 lead into halftime, and the team’s began trading touchdowns. Blanchard (6-2, 3-2) cut the lead to 12-7, but Clinton responded to go back up by 13 points.
The Lions cut the lead again to 20-13, but once more the Red Tornadoes responded with a touchdown. They added another late score to seal the 20-point win.
Blanchard is still in good position to make the playoffs, but has two games remaining against Newcastle (4-4, 2-3) and Elgin (7-1, 4-1). The Lions’ game against Elgin will likely decide both teams’ playoff seeding.
