JONES, Oklahoma – The Jones Longhorns held off a late push by Lexington to win 10-7 in a defensive battle Friday.

Jones (6-2, 5-0) remained undefeated in district with the win, and the Longhornstook a firm hold on first place in their district.

All of Jones’ scoring came in the second quarter. The Longhorns took a 7-0 lead after a 37-yard touchdown pass from Daxx Garman to Cody Vandiver. Nathan Lee extended the lead to 10-0 with a field, and that score lasted until halftime.

Lexington (6-2, 3-2) got on the board with a two-yard run in the third quarter, but the Jones defense stepped up and did not allow the Bulldogs to score again.

Jones will try to continue its five-game winning streak Oct. 30 against Seeworth (1-7, 0-5).
