OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Putnam City North Panthers (6-3, 3-3) didn’t totally control their fate in the playoff picture for District 6A-1, but needed a win to keep their hopes alive. And they got it Thursday over Del City.
If PC North won and Lawton beat Norman North, the Panthers would sit tied for fourth place with Del City. The win would give them the tie-breaker, putting them in the playoffs instead of the Eagles.
For Del City, the playoff picture was simple; with a win, they would guarantee themselves a playoff berth and a chance at a gold ball.
The Panthers took the lead early and never gave it back, beating Del City 34-7. That, coupled with Lawton easily topping Norman North 31-13, puts PC North in the playoffs.
The rest of the District 6A-1 playoff picture shakes out Friday night with the Mustang Broncos (7-2, 5-1) taking on the Southmoore Sabercats (8-1, 5-1) in a matchup that will determine playoff seeding for the district.
