Guthrie Standout Continues to Draw Nationwide Interest

GUTHRIE, Oklahoma -- The recruiting buzz surrounding Guthrie's Kentrell Brothers continues to swell. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker recently visited Arizona, Arizona State and the University of Washington. All three schools have offered the Rivals.com three-star recruit a football scholarship.

Brothers has 15 scholarship offers heading into late June. His offers stretch from Seattle to Syracuse and several places in between including Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and Tulsa.

Rivals.com recently rated Brothers as the tenth best prospect in the state of Oklahoma for 2011.

“I’m pretty content with the colleges that are looking at me now. I’m fortunate because a lot of people don’t have the offers that I have,” Brothers said.

Brothers projects to be an outside linebacker at the next level, but will play mainly at defensive end for the Blue Jays this fall. As a junior last year, Brothers caused plenty of trouble for the opposing offenses, intercepting four passes and sacking the quarterback 17 times.

The Guthrie standout would like pick a school soon, but it’s not a priority.

“I want to get it done by the beginning of my senior year. If I don’t , I’m going to take as much time as I need to make sure where I want to go,” Brothers said.

Kentrell says his mother will have strong influence on where he plays college football.
