TULSA, Oklahoma -- Three-A District 7 play began last Friday night for the Henryetta Knights, they traveled to Tulsa to take on the Victory Christian Conquerors, and Henryetta triumphed 46-12 thanks to tough defense and a huge night for the running game.

Henryetta won the toss and elected to receive, they rolled down the field and senior fullback Kalon Moore scored on a three-yard touchdown run with 7:12 left in the first quarter, but Cassidy Wion’s extra point try was blocked.

The Knights alertly pounced on the ensuing kickoff, giving them possession at the Victory 41, and Moore ran it in again from 13 yards away this time with 5:46 gone in the game. The 2 point conversion pass was incomplete; making the score after 12 minutes Henryetta 12, Victory 0.

Sophomore fullback Kyle Britt plowed his way into the end zone from three yards out with 8:55 remaining in the 1st half, the two point pass fell incomplete. Four minutes later, senior quarterback Cody McKinney called an option play, got some terrific blocks, and sprinted 83 yards for a touchdown. Wion had a second kick get blocked. An interception led to Victory getting a one-yard touchdown run, the two point run failed, giving the halftime score of Knights 24, Conquerors 6.

On the very first play of the second half, Victory tossed a 56 yard bomb that went for six, the two-point run was unsuccessful. McKinney banged a yard into the end zone with 8:40 left in the third, Britt ran in the two-point try. Senior lineman Brinden Wallace fell on a loose football at Victory’s 32, and sophomore running back Blake Johnson added to the Knights’ total with a six-yard run. The two-point pass was incomplete, so the third quarter ended with Henryetta ahead, 38-12. Sophomore defensive back Caul Warlow picked off a pass and returned it 45 yards for the game’s last touchdown. McKinney added two more with a pass to sophomore receiver Hunter Brown. Junior defensive back Sebastian Delocal picked the next ball out of the air, and Henryetta let the backups run out the clock as the Knights won it 46-12.

Henryetta totaled 405 yards rushing, Moore had 135 yards and two touchdowns in 17 carries. McKinney had 117 and two touchdowns in eight runs, Johnson had 19 carries for 123 yards and a touchdown, Kyle Britt had a sack and two tackles, Tyler Brown and Grant Jenson had three tackles each.

“Our line was awesome, is all I can say, they let me and Blake Johnson run wild tonight,”Moore said.

“Our offense was outstanding, scoring 46 points, our defense played great, if they keep this up we’ll just get better and better each week," coach Kenny Speer said.

The Knights (3-1, 1-0) host Roland this Friday at 7:30pm, the Rangers(2-2) stung Westville 18-7 last week.
