TULSA, Oklahoma – The Booker T. Washington Hornets scored fewer points than they had since Week 2, and still beat Bishop Kelley soundly Friday night. The Hornets shut out the Comets 21-0 to improve to 4-0 in district play.

The highlights came on defense for the Hornets, who have only given up 16 total points in their last four games. Leading 21-0 late in the fourth quarter, Booker T. forced a fumble deep in the Comets’ end of the field. BTW kicked the ball around, scooped it up, fumbled it away and eventually the football squirted out to a Kelley player.

A few plays later, Booker T. secured the turnover they nearly had just minutes before. Keaton Forrest threw deep down the field but was intercepted by James Caligone to seal the win.

Hornets running back Isaac Bennett scored on a 58-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. He did leave the game in the fourth quarter after a hard tackle and awkward landing. Bennett limped off the field and looked to be favoring his ankle. Trainers checked him out on the sidelines but he did not return to the game.

The Hornets have allowed just 82 points in seven games this season. They are outscoring opponents by 18 points per game.

Bishop Kelley’s struggles continue. The Comets dropped to 2-5 overall with the loss. The Comets have not played well on offense in their five losses. J.J. Tappana’s team only scores 4.6 points per game in the losses. In the wins, they have posted 62 and 48 points respectively.

The Comets will visit Memorial in Week 8. The Hornets will visit Nathan Hale.
