MOORE, Oklahoma – The Westmoore Jaguars drew one step closer to a spot in the state playoffs Friday with a 30-6 blowout of the Putnam City Pirates.

The Jaguars (5-3, 4-1) need just one more win – or one more loss by Edmond North – to clinch a playoff berth in Billy Langford’s first season as head coach. However, the journey will not be easy.

Westmoore’s final two games of the year come against Mustang and Lawton, the top two teams in District 6A-2. Meanwhile, Edmond North’s final two games will be against Edmond Santa Fe and U.S. Grant, the bottom two teams in the district.

Edmond North can steal Westmoore’s playoff spot by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker. If the Jaguars lose their final two and the Huskies win theirs, they would tie. Because Edmond North is the only team that has beaten Westmoore in district play, the Huskies would advance in that scenario.

Meanwhile, the loss all but eliminates Putnam City (5-3, 2-3) from the playoff picture, barring an upset of undefeated Lawton.
