Edmond Memorial Stays in Playoff Hunt With Victory

EDMOND, Oklahoma – The Edmond Memorial Bulldogs recovered from a two-game losing streak and kept their playoff hopes alive Thursday with a 31-14 victory over the Norman North Timberwolves.

The Bulldogs (6-3, 3-3) jumped out to an early lead and never trailed. They started the scoring with a field goal, and then extended the lead to 10-0 on a 25-yard touchdown run by Kameron Doolittle.

Norman North (3-6, 2-4) got on the board with a 27-yard touchdown by Raymond Demby to go into halftime trailing 10-7. The Timberwolves had a shot to tie the game with a field goal in the third quarter, but missed it. That was the closest they came.

Memorial pulled away for the rest of the night, scoring 21 unanswered points to take a commanding 31-7 lead. Norman North scored a late touchdown, but never threatened.

The two teams entered Thursday in a three-way tie with Choctaw for the coveted fourth and final playoff spot in District 6A-1. The win puts the Bulldogs – who also beat Choctaw earlier in the season – in the driver’s seat.

Now one more win or a Choctaw loss in either of its final two games will guarantee Memorial a playoff spot. The Timberwolves have effectively been eliminated from the playoff picture.

Memorial will finish the season next Friday against Yukon (7-1, 4-1), while Norman North will face Midwest City (8-0, 5-0).
