TULSA, Oklahoma – In a game littered with early errors, Union outlasted the Muskogee Roughers 56-7 to advance in the 6A state playoffs. Muskogee ends its season with a 5-5 record.

Both teams combined for five first quarter turnovers, but only Union was able to capitalize on the mistakes. After fumbling inside Muskogee’s 10-yard line, Union forced a fumble on the very next play. Muskogee quarterback Victor Williams was hit on the draw play and the Redskins pounced on the ball. Jalen Hearron scored on a short touchdown run one play later to give Union a 7-0 lead.

On the Rougers next possession, Williams fumbled again while on the run and the Redskins recovered the ball. On the first play of the next possession, quarterback Kale Pearson threw a perfect pass down the sideline to Stephon Weaver. He took off for the 39-yard score.

Union would score twice just before the half. The big play came on 4th-and-6 from the Muskogee 36-yard line. Pearson took off on a quarterback keeper and outran the Roughers to the endzone to put Union up 21-0. They would lead 28-0 at halftime and breeze to an easy win.

Union will take on Edmond North in round two of the playoffs. The Huskies beat the Yukon Millers 28-21 in the first round.
