MIDWEST CITY, Okla. – The Millwood Falcons had to withstand the absences of Josh Turner and Brandon Swindall as well as a 29-point outburst from Conner Frankamp, but still managed to beat Wichita North 50-44 Friday in the Titan Classic.

Turner and Swindall both were out of town on football recruiting trips, Turner to Texas and Swindall to Arkansas. That left the Falcons shorthanded when forced to deal with Frankamp.

Wichita’s offense ran through Frankamp from the opening tip, and he scored 13 of the team’s first 20 points. He led the Redskins to their first lead early in the second half, but Millwood quickly adjusted.

The Falcons began focusing all their defensive attention on Frankamp and almost constantly rolled double teams onto him. He had much more trouble finding open shots, and Wichita committed a series of turnovers that allowed Millwood to retake control of the game.

Wichita managed to pull within one point several times in the fourth quarter and briefly tied the game, but could never get the lead back. The Redskins began fouling late, and the Falcons hit free throws to clinch the win.

Frankamp’s 29 points were by far the most of the game and he nearly doubled the combined scoring of the rest of his teammates. Delford Robinson led Millwood with 15, and Kevonte Richardson added 11.

Millwood will move on to the semifinals of the Titan Classic, where it will face MacArthur at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. Wichita will face Guthrie in the consolation bracket at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
