MORRIS, Oklahoma -- It has been a year of highs and lows for Morris basketball, but the Eagle seniors of 2011 went out the best way possible. The Eagles and Lady Eagles dropped rival Henryetta 44-37 and 62-41, respectively.

The first quarter of the boys’ game started slowly. Morris held an early 8-2 lead and took an 11-5 lead at the end of the first eight minutes.

Henryetta came back to make the halftime score Eagles 18-14, Morris controlled the early part of the third quarter. Henryetta responded and the Knights led 28-25 with three quarters down.

Morris regained a 38-33 advantage and the Eagles closed out a 44-37 victory by cashing in on free throws.

The girls’ contest that preceded it featured the No. 6 Lady Knights and the No. 9 Lady Eagles facing off for the third time this season.

Morris began the game on a 10-0 run and Henryetta answered with a 8-0 spurt, however Morris led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter.

The score was locked at 14-14 but the Lady Eagles took advantage of Henryetta’s mistakes, outscoring their visitors 18-4 to take a lead 32-18 lead at half.
