OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Bishop McGuinness Irish football program is changing looks, after head coach Kenny Young stepped down from his head coaching position.

Young, who has been at the school and with the team for a decade, has decided pursue other career avenues.

“He’s just going to go on and do other things,” said McGuinness’ athletic director, Gary Savely.

Savely spoke highly of Young, who helped turn the Irish’s football program around. He’s credited with cultivating the same passion, focus and competitive nature that’s earned Bishop McGuinness two state championships. In his time as head coach, Young’s built a 97-27 record.

While Savely and the Irish football program begin the search for a new head coach, Young will continue to invest in the team throughout the spring with weigh training workouts. He’ll also fulfill his teaching responsibilities through the academic year.
