HENRYETTA, Okla.--The 2011 Class 3A Section IV Regionals made its way through Henryetta featuring exciting matchups between Eufaula and Antlers and Henryetta and Holdenville.

The 3A No. 18 Eufaula Ironheads topped the Antlers Bearcats 44-42, the Eufaula girls sent the Antlers girls home after a 49-39 game, the hometown Knights were taken down by 3A No. 16 Holdenville 60-42, but the 3A No. 7 Lady Knights won 61-39 over 3A No. 19 Holdenville.

In the boys game, Holdenville came out firing three pointers, sinking 11 on the night.

Henryetta trailed 14-12 at the end of the first quarter. The score was tied at 19 with 5:08 to go in the second quarter and by halftime the Wolverines led 32-23.

Holdenville led 47-34 after the third quarter, and Henryetta couldn’t cut the gap as the Knights dropped into the losers bracket after the 60-42 loss.

Freshman forward Chet Caywood was the high scorer for Henryetta with 14 points, while sophomore guard Damon Mouss added 10 and junior forward Joe Moudy scored eight.

For Holdenville the offense was led by senior guard Denzel Hughes who totaled 19 points. He was helped by fellow senior guard Caleb Deer who finished with 6 and junior center Robert Davis who scored 10.

In the girls contest, Henryetta held a 10-7 advantage after one quarter of play,

Neither team could really get into a rhythm, and at the halfway point of a game that was laden with fouls, Henryetta was ahead 24-19.

The ragged style of play continued into the second half and Henryetta’s lead increased to 42-26 with three quarters played.

At the final buzzer, The Lady Knights extended their season at least two more games with the 61-39 victory over the Lady Wolverines.

Sophomore Miranda Harjo scored 14 points, senior Heather Konsure added 12 and junior Ashton Peters finished with 11.

Ashley Lacey had 12 points for the Lady Wolverines and Jade Baca added six while Liz Davis finished with four points.

The action continues over the weekend in Antlers, as Friday the Eufaula girls face Hugo and the Eufaula boys tangle with Atoka.

The Atoka girls play Holdenville, and the Henryetta boys play Tishomingo. The losers of those games will be eliminated while the winners bracket play continues Saturday in Antlers.
