OKLAHOMA CITY—The Amateur Softball Association held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday to unveil the new 10,000 square foot field house addition made to the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.

The new field house provides a number of amenities including four team meeting and locker room spaces complete with dry erase boards, water fountains, wireless Internet access and restrooms. The team rooms will also feature flat screen TV’s with satellite television.

“The ASA Hall of Fame Complex is the premier softball facility in the nation. Growing up, every player dreams of the opportunity to play on this complex’s Stadium Field,” said ASA Executive Director Ron Radigonda. “It is a proud moment for ASA to enhance our already outstanding complex with the addition of the Field House, which can be utilized by everyone who visits.”

The Field House, which is located directly behind the left field wall of the main stadium field, provides amenities for not only teams, but fans and umpires alike.

Thanks to the addition, umpires now have changing rooms as well as a common area and the Field House also provides public restrooms, eight permanent parking spaces and a bus turn-around point that allows for easy access to the building.

Additionally, the Field House can be used as a storm shelter for athletes and umpires, should severe weather move into the area.

The construction on the project began in October 2009 and the new plan allows the one large meeting room to convert into four smaller team meeting rooms.

Because the ASA Hall of Fame complex hosts more than 25 events each year from youth to college and World Cup Softball events, thousands of fans and athletes alike will benefit from the new ASA Field House.

The Oklahoma and Oklahoma State softball teams, along with Illinois-Chicago and Auburn will be the first teams to test out the new facility this weekend in a college softball preview.

The ASA Hall of Fame Complex schedule is highlighted by the NCAA Women’s College World Series held June 2-8, which features the top eight teams in Division I softball playing for a National Championship as well as the World Cup of Softball July 21-25.
