TULSA, Oklahoma - The 6A girls state final was the matchup everyone wanted to see. No. 2 Edmond Santa Fe taking on No. 1 Midwest City. The two teams were a combined 54-1 coming into this game. And, for the better part of Saturday afternoon, this game lived up to its billing.

Santa Fe jumped out to an early lead and after one quarter and was up by two. That lead grew in the second quarter, and when the two teams went in for halftime the Lady Wolves were beating the unbeaten Lady Bombers 25-16.

Things changed a little in the 3rd. Midwest City came out hot, opening the quarter on a 7-0 run. In fact, the Bombers managed to tie the game at 27 with just a couple of minutes left in the third.

But from that point on, it was all Santa Fe. The Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Bombers 29-9 over the final 11:45 of the game. And thanks to that, Edmond Santa Fe won its first ever state title, beating Midwest City 56-36.

Courtney Walker led the Lady Wolves with a game-high 19 points. Ashley Clark led the Lady Bombers with 15 points.

The loss was Midwest City's first of the year and it snaps their 50-game winning streak. Edmond Santa Fe ends the year with a record of 27-1 and their first gold ball in school history.
