TULSA, Oklahoma -- New information Tulsa Public Schools parents need to hear: the district has decided not to close Grimes Elementary school this year.

TPS says it's because there isn't enough time to finish renovations at Nimitz Middle School where the students were supposed to move.

Students will now stay at Grimes this school year, but it will close next year. Nimitz is closing, but TPS says renovations to make it work for younger students couldn't be finished by the start of school.

Nimitz had scheduled renovations planned to the roof and air conditioning as well.
