TULSA, Oklahoma - A teen was injured after fire swept through a south Tulsa home Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 4200 block of 104th Street just after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Tim Smallwood, with the Tulsa Fire Department, told News On 6 firefighters arrived to find the house fully involved in flames.

"We had to set our ladder pipe up, we weren't able to get it under control by going in with interior lines, so we set up our ladder pipe up to put more water and did a defensive attack," he said.

Smallwood said a young teen home at the time suffered minor burns to his hand.  Smallwood said the teen was the only one home at the time of the fire.

In addition to the flames, firefighters are battling the extreme heat.

"With this heat, it gets really hot and that's why we're rotating our guys as fast as we can," he said.

Smallwood said firefighters rotated in and out of the home about every ten minutes to avoid heat exhaustion.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
