West Nile Virus Infected Mosquitoes Found In Tulsa

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Along with the heat, the drought and power usage situation, the Tulsa City-County Health Department says we now have West Nile Virus to be concerned about.

John Baker with the health department said Friday, at one of several mosquito traps set up inside the city of Tulsa, they found the insects with the virus.

The trap in question is located between 61st and 71st and Memorial and Sheridan.

It is not uncommon for mosquitoes to carry West Nile, but with the current drought those mosquitoes have been few.

Right now there isn't much standing water except in pools, local ponds and lakes.

Baker says they will be spraying in the area where the mosquitoes were trapped Friday evening.
