Police Make Arrest In Hit-And-Run That Killed Okmulgee Girl

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma -- Okmulgee Police made an arrest Friday in the hit-and-run death of an 8-year-old Okmulgee girl in 2009.

Police say 43-year-old Kevin Taylor left the scene of a deadly crash that killed Piper Haney.

Haney was struck by a pickup truck while riding her bike near a city park on August 20, 2009. She died a week later in a Tulsa hospital.

Police say they have worked vigorously to bring justice to Haney but came up empty on several leads.

It wasn't after police discovered the vehicle involved in the crash that they were able to track down and arrest the suspect.

Taylor remains in the Okmulgee County jail.
