MIDLAND, Texas -- Thanks to a strong outing from the RockHounds pitching staff, Midland pulled off the doubleheader sweep of the Tulsa Drillers, 5-1 and 2-1. The loss makes it a three-game sweep for the RockHounds as Tulsa closes the first half of a six-game road trip through Texas.

The Drillers (54-63) struggled offensively in the first game, with just two runners advancing past second base and only one of which accounted for a run scored. Additionally, Tulsa batters struck out nine times in the game.

Midland (54-63) reliever Lenny DiNardo (1-0) picked up his first win of the season, after accounting for four of the strikeouts. Corey Riorden (1-12) continued to struggle this season, giving up four runs on seven hits, despite striking out three.

The RockHounds did most of their damage in the top of the first, scoring three runs on a Wes Timmons line drive single to left field.

In the nightcap, Anthony Capra pitched a quality outing, giving up just one earned run on one hit and striking out six, but came away with a no-decision for his 4.2 innings of service. His one earned run came in the top of the first, on an RBI single from Mike Zuanich to bring Tim Wheeler home.

Midland tied the game in the next half-inning, keeping Capra from coming away with a loss.

Brett Hunter (3-2) was credited with a win, allowing one hit and giving up one walk in two-thirds of an inning. Joseph Gardner (0-2) remained winless on the season, giving up two earned runs on five hits and striking out four in his five innings of service.

The Drillers will now travel six hours across the state of Texas to cap off the six-game swing with a three-game series against the Frisco RoughRiders.
