TULSA, Oklahoma – Prized pitching prospect Drew Pomeranz made his debut with the Tulsa Drillers Wednesday, and he did not disappoint.

Pomeranz carried a perfect game into the seventh inning before allowing two hits in a 6-0 victory over the Midland Rockhounds. It was his first appearance since the Rockies' organization acquired him as the final piece in a five-player trade that sent Ubaldo Jimenez to the Cleveland Indians in late July.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 230-pound left-hander was selected fifth overall in the 2010 MLB Draft and entered Wednesday night with a cumulative 3-3 record and 1.98 ERA in 18 starts between Single-A and Double-A in the Indians' farm system.

After retiring the first 18 batters he faced, Pomeranz finally allowed a base hit to Grant Green in the seventh to end his perfect game. The next batter followed with a single as well, but those were the only runners Pomeranz allowed all night.

In addition to allowing only two hits, Pomeranz did not walk anybody while recording four strikeouts. He now has 116 strikeouts to only 38 walks this year.

With Pomeranz dealing, the Drillers (55-66) recorded all the runs they needed early in the night. They scored four runs in the first three innings, which included three RBIs from Ben Paulson. Hector Gomez launched the game's only home run in the seventh, and Mike Zuanich ended the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

The victory ended a six-game losing streak for the Drillers and marked their first shutout since July 31. They will continue their three-game series against the Rockhounds at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
