OWASSO, Oklahoma -- Another member of the 45th Infantry was awarded the Purple Heart after being injured in combat this week.

Specialist Randen Allison from Owasso was hit by either a bullet or shrapnel in Afghanistan on Monday.

Specialist Allison was on patrol when his unit came under fire. His right arm was seriously injured and he was in critical condition for a while.

Back here at home, his wife waited for hours to hear what happened to her husband.

Jamie Allison has her hands full. She has three kids under 6 years old to take care of while her husband serves in the 45th Infantry.

Three-old-year old Bubby is usually the center of attention. But this week her stress level reached new heights when she learned her husband was injured in combat.

"My heart dropped, literally, I cried for about three hours straight," she said.

Jamie says her husband's unit was on patrol when they were attacked. He laid on the ground returning fire and was hit by either a bullet or shrapnel in his right arm.

Jamie says the hardest part was waiting a-half-a world away while her husband was in surgery.

"So I had to go about twelve hours without knowing if he was alive, if he made it through surgery or any of that and it was very difficult. It was very hard, I don't think I've cried so much in my life," Jamie said.

He made it through surgery but it's not clear if he'll regain full mobility of his arm.

Specialist Allison has been in the Oklahoma National Guard for nearly five years and this was his second tour of duty. He spent much of 2007 and 2008 serving in Iraq with the 45th.

Jamie says it's hard when he's gone; the couple was remodeling their home just before he deployed and she's left the ceiling halfway painted,

Specialist Allison was awarded the Purple Heart for his actions on Monday. Jamie's extremely proud of her husband and everyone in the 45th and she can't wait for their tour to be over.

"I want him to come home. I'm proud of all of them and what they do I just want them all home," Jamie Allison said.

Specialist Allison will be transferred to San Antonio tomorrow to be rehabilitation. Jamie expects him to be back home in Owasso within the month.
