MORRIS, Oklahoma -- Bobby Warner was shot and killed, in what his family says appears to have been an argument over a horse. The shooting happened in Okmulgee County.

It was January 13th when the medical examiner loaded up the body of Bobby Warner. He was shot in a barn outside the town of Morris.

His wife saw the shooting; family members rushed to the scene expecting a quick arrest and charges.

"And it's taken over 6 months. Obviously we'd like to have had charges filed sooner in the case," said Chris Vokun, victim's Brother in Law.

Vokun and the other family members say they've been told charges will be filed soon, giving them hope they'll get some answers.

"There were times when we were very discouraged because traditionally when you see something like this happen, there are charges filed soon, and we were left in the dark and didn't know what was going on," he said.

Warner was training horses on the property in Morris, in between meets at the tracks in Claremore and Oklahoma City. His family believes it was an argument over one of the horses that led to Warner being shot.

"So it was very hard for me to swallow that there was any reason for Bobby to lose his life whether it was over horses, or property or anything like that," Vokun said.

The Okmulgee County Sheriff's office was the first responder and the OSBI handled the investigation. They turned over their findings to the District Attorney on March 2nd.

While the family is waiting for the case to come together - they are still grieving.

"He was taken from us way too early, in his mid-50s. He was just getting back into the horse business and it looked like he was going to do very well," Vokun said.

News On 6 contacted the Okmulgee County District Attorney's office for comment on the case, but they haven't responded.
