Cameron Wrenn Dominant In Win Over Owasso

BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -- A high scoring affair early on turned into the Cameron Wrenn show late as Broken Arrow topped Owasso 48-20 in the season-opening matchup.

After forcing a three-and-out, the Tigers went yard, Zach Mills connected with a wide-open Will Armstead for a 69-yard touchdown. BA went for two on the PAT and came up short to go ahead 6-0.

However on the ensuing drive, Owasso quarterback Kayson Key connects with Arkansas commit Keon Hatcher for a long touchdown. On the PAT attempt, #17 came in untouched and blocked the attempt to keep the game tied at 6-6.

Key and Hatcher would hook twice more on the next drive, a 19-yard pass to set up a one-yard touchdown strike, putting Owasso up 13-6 with 7:32 left in the first quarter.

Mills notched another touchdown pass on the night, capping off a long drive with a Quad Ware 15-yard touchdown pass tying the game 13-13 with less than five minutes left to play in the first quarter.

Broken Arrow showed that they can get it done on the ground as well as Wrenn took over. The junior broke tackles in the backfield and takes it to the house, giving the Tigers a 20-13 to close the first quarter.

The action slowed down in the second quarter, and wren finished off a meticulous Tiger drive with a three-yard score to take a 27-13 lead early in the second.

After an interception gave the Tigers the ball at the 13-yard line, Wrenn flashed his speed yet again, rushing the ball on back-to-back plays for a score, to put BA up 33-12. The junior finished the first half with 205 yards and three scores on 11 carries.

The Rams finally stopped the bleeding in the closing seconds of the first half, with Key connecting with Hatcher yet again to close the gap to 14 points as the half ended.

However, Wrenn wasn't done in the first half, cracking off several long runs on the Tigers' opening drive, topping it with a 17-yard touchdown run to put Broken Arrow on top 41-20. BA forced yet another Owasso turnover, returning the interception to the 18-yard line. Wrenn took the handoff on the first play and went untouched in for the score to put The Tigers up 28 points.

Wrenn played sparingly in the fourth quarter, but finished with 309 yards and five scores on 30 rushes.

The Tigers have a big matchup on the horizon, a matchup with legendary Permian High School at Cowboy's Stadium, while Owasso will hold its home opener against Muskogee.
