TULSA, Oklahoma – A motorcycle crash on westbound I-44 at the Arkansas River left one woman in critical condition and closed the highway for almost two hours Sunday night.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said the woman, 65-year-old Roylyln Barr of Skiatook, was a passenger on a motorcycle which failed to negotiate a curve in a construction area and struck several orange barrels.

Barr was prounounced dead Monday morning.

No other vehicles were involved and the driver of the motorcycle was unhurt.

All westbound traffic was diverted until the accident could be investigated by troopers.

The cyclist, 65-year-old Virgil Tomes of Tulsa, told troopers he was blinded by the setting sun.

OHP troopers say neither Tomes or Barr were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
