MUSKOGEE, Oklahoma -- A member of the 45th Infantry Brigade who survived an enemy ambush could use some help. Sergeant John Coker Jr. is recovering from injuries he sustained in Afghanistan September 9 in an attack that killed three other Oklahoma soldiers.

A former high school and college athlete, Coker was shot in both legs. After several surgeries – with more to go – he is re-learning to walk.

A fund has been set up for individuals and businesses that would like to donate funds to Coker's aid and help his family with expenses not covered by the military.

The account is at First National Bank, 2215 Chandler Road, Muskogee OK 74403. The title of the account is Bradley Jason Coker for benefit of Sgt. John Russell Coker Jr.
