Tulsa Red Cross Gets A Big Honor

There are 36 red cross blood regions across the country, and Friday, the Southwest Region, based out of Tulsa, found out it's the blood region of the year.

TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa's Red Cross got a big honor Friday.

There are 36 red cross blood regions across the country, and Friday, the Southwest Region, based out of Tulsa, found out it's the blood region of the year. The region covers Oklahoma and Texas.

The agency says the support they get is what makes the award so special.

"We really want to share this with our donors, our blood drive coordinators, our platelet donors, our volunteers, all of those who have really helped make this happen," said Jan Hale of Red Cross.

This is the first time the Southwest Region has won the award.
