CATOOSA, Oklahoma -- The driver of a semi tractor trailer escaped injury when his truck was struck by a train locomotive in downtown Catoosa Monday morning.
The crash occurred at the Denbo Street and Cherokee Street crossing.
Catoosa Police say the crash caused the semi's diesel fuel tanks to rupture spilling over 100 gallons.
The eastbound BNSF train stopped about 100 feet from impact.
Police say the truck was pulling a low-hung trailer which bottomed out on the railroad crossing.
They say the driver had gotten out of the cab to try to use the trailer's air suspension system to raise it up, when the railroad crossing arms came down and he realized it was too late.
