Tulsa Dentist Turns Office Into Art Gallery

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Tulsa Girls Art School Project is in its fifth year, and they're always looking for new places to display the paintings the girls create.

Dr Hugh McDougall's dental office is the latest home for some paintings created by students at the Tulsa Girls Art School.

"We are an after school non-profit program that trains underserved girls in Tulsa Public Schools to become working visual artists," said Matt Moffett.

Around 45 girls are enrolled in the program from age 8 to 17.

"There's a lot of people who don't know about this program, and it's such a wonderful program," said Dr. McDougall.

And there's interesting art for the office, like one piece depicting a doughnut tree.

"She did five paintings last semester and they were all purchased by Williams, and they have them in the break rooms around in the Williams companies," Moffett said.

There are even paintings in all the exam rooms at Dr. Hugh McDougall's office. I asked him if it made the root canals easier.

"They make them more pleasant," he said.

The Girls Art School has a fundraiser Thursday at Tulsa Country Club.
