OKLAHOMA CITY -- Some playful new additions are roaming the Oklahoma City Zoo.

Four rare Sumatran tiger cubs are the first ever births of this species at the metro zoo. The cubs, three girls and one boy, were born July 9. And they're already about 30 pounds each.

Zoo officials said the births of Leonidas, Leeloo, Lola and Lucy are not only good for the zoo, they're also good for the cats. The Sumatran tigers are a critically endangered species.

"This is an unusual litter size," said Alan Varsik, with the Oklahoma City Zoo. "Typically, it's two to three animals, so to have four is significant and a first time mom to be successful with all four is really significant."

Right now, there are more Sumatran tigers in captivity than there are in the wild.
