TULSA, Oklahoma -- Verizon Wireless is giving victims of domestic violence a voice October is domestic violence awareness month.

The cell phone company teamed up with several agencies including Tulsa's Domestic Violence Intervention Services. They're collecting old or unused phones to give to victims.

"This is their line of communication, so they can have that line that nobody else knows," said Terry Rackley of Verizon Wireless.

It's easy to donate an old phone to the HopeLine. You can drop one off at any Verizon store, YMCA or Citizens Security Bank locations. The phones don't have to be Verizon – any cellular phone can be used.

They'll even repair some damage, like a cracked screen – but water damaged phones can't be repaired.
