I hope you had a great weekend! If you spent time in central or western Oklahoma, it was a dreary, rain-filled couple of days. Here in Tulsa, the rain held off through Sunday evening. But just on cue, the rain began as the Tulsa State Fair started closing up. Both the amount and timing of the rain were great news. Tulsa picked up about half an inch of rain while some places in Creek County saw almost an inch of rain overnight. But that is shadowed by the substantial totals seen in central and southern Oklahoma.
Take a look at the map to the right. Over the past several days, heavy areas of rain have trained over these locations. As you can see, some places picked up over four inches of rain! The system set up in a great spot, bringing this heavy rain to some of the most drought-stricken regions of the Southern Plains. It stayed just to the west of Tulsa, giving us a nice weekend overall.
As the rain ends on this Columbus Day, we are looking ahead to another storm system on its heels. Unlike the weekend system, the midweek cold front will sweep through quickly, bringing another round of rain to our region. And if dreary weather just isn't your thing, the latter half of the week promises to be mild with several sunny days.
