McALESTER, Oklahoma -- An altercation involving an inmate at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester Monday sent to two security officers to a McAlester hospital Monday.

OSP spokesperson Terry Crenshaw says one officer was stabbed in the upper arm with what they believe was a homemade shank or knife.  The other officer sustained a shoulder injury.

The altercation took place in F cell house just before noon.  The cell house is home to maximum security inmates.

The two officers were treated at the hospital, while the inmate was treated for minor injuries in the prison's medical unit.

The unidentified inmate was then placed in OSP's disciplinary unit.

An investigation into the altercation continues.
