TULSA, Oklahoma -- Thousands were out at the Union's Central Park to support their "buddies". The annual "Buddy Walk" raises awareness and money for the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa.

Last year they set a record with more than 3,500 participants. This year they blew that out of the water, around 5,000 people came out Sunday.

"You'd be surprised how many people are touched by an individual with Down Syndrome or know somebody in their lives," said Alana Kennon, Buddy Walk Co-Chair. "And they're here to support them or wanna support the family that they know."

October is national Down Syndrome Awareness month.
