Today is your day if you enjoy windy, cool, and crisp air.  A real deal taste of fall weather will be underway for the next few days starting right now with cool morning temperatures in the 40s and lower 50s.

The front rolled over the area right on schedule yesterday evening and the showers and storms cranked up across portions of the region.  This activity is now well east and south of the region and the cooler air will continue to advect into the region as gusty northwest winds blow across the state.  Afternoon highs are expected to move into the lower or mid 60s with mostly sunny conditions.  A few clouds will linger this morning with a brief shower possibility across extreme northern OK until 7AM.

Later tonight the winds will drop down into the 5 and 12 mph range allowing for a chilly evening.  Temperatures Wednesday morning will drop into the upper 30s or lower 40s with Wednesday afternoon highs around 60.

Temperatures may be cold enough Thursday morning to produce a light freeze across Northern OK and southern Kansas.  Our friends from the National Weather Service may issue a freeze watch for portions of the area for Thursday morning.  This would not be a hard or killing freeze, but a very light freeze with some light frost would be possible.

This great taste of fall like weather will last through the end of the week with highs moving into the lower or mid 70s before a fast moving upper level wave will bring a slight chance of showers or storms into the region this weekend.  Saturday evening into Sunday morning will be the next time period for this slight chance of showers and storms.

The upper air pattern will be progressive for the next 2 weeks but we still don't see any major weather systems that would lead to enhanced precipitation chances.  The data does suggests a strong front arriving either Wed or Thursday of next week, but the jury will remain silent for a few more days before starting to deliberate.

Despite last nights showers and storms for some areas; the strong gusty winds will lead to an enhanced fire danger later today and also tomorrow.  Caution will be advised.

Drumday Tulsa is an event that happens every year to raise food and awareness for the Community Food bank of Eastern OK.  Drummers from across Northern OK come together on the first Sunday of November in Tulsa and play their drums hoping to set a world record of the most drummers playing the same beat at the same time.  More importantly, the event has raised literally tons of canned food for the food bank over the past few years.  For more information or if you would like to participate, please follow this link.
