TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa area residents can take advantage of an opportunity to clean out their medicine cabinets and bring expired drugs to participating Drug Warehouse stores Saturday.

You just might save a life.

Old and unused prescription drugs will be accepted through 2 p.m. during "Drug Take-back Day," October 29.

"This program is designed as a safe way to dispose of old unused and outdated house prescription medicines and to protect our children and the environment from unnecessary use and disposal," according to a release from the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

Medicine cabinets can be target for teenagers and people with addiction issues, sometimes with deadly results.

The TCSO and representatives from the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs will be at three Drug Warehouse locations to accept the medications and see that they're disposed of responsibly.

They request that no syringes, liquids or inhalers be brought in for disposal.

Participating Drug Warehouse locations:

  • 11650 East 86th Street North in Owasso
  • 2040 W. Houston in Broken Arrow
  • 12037 S. Memorial in Bixby

This is the third national Drug Take-back Day. If you aren't in Tulsa County, search for a collection site near you.
