OKLAHOMA CITY -- The NBA lockout has left Kevin Durant with a lot of free time, so the Oklahoma City Thunder player decided to fill it with an impromptu game of flag football with some fraternity members at Oklahoma State University.

Durant sent out a message on Twitter Monday night saying, "This lockout is really boring. Anybody playing flag football in OKC. I need to run around or something!"

George Overbey with Sigma Nu fraternity saw the tweet and answered.

"It was pretty crazy. I saw the tweet from him and on a whim I tweeted back, and didn't think he'd answer. But he did."

Overbey said he and Durant tweeted back and forth then texted for two or three hours. Durant later called Overbey and said he was coming to Stillwater to play flag football.

"He decided he wanted to come up and play," said Overbey. "How cool that is of him? I mean, what NBA player... not just an NBA player but the best player in the world… who would come up to Stillwater just to hang with a few college kids?"

Durant drove to Stillwater, picked up Overbey and friend and they headed off to the game. Durant played for a couple of hours, signed some autographs and talked to fans.

The NBA scoring champ threw four touchdowns, three of which Overbey caught, and also had three interceptions on the night. Sigma Nu actually had to forfeit the intramural game since KD isn't a student at OSU--giving up their chance at a fourth straight intramural championship--but Overbey and the team didn't seem to mind.

After the flag football game he tweeted, "I had sooo much fun at Oklahoma [State] playing flag football! Shout out to my new buddy @goverbey for inviting me!"

Overbey, who attended Oklahoma Christian High School, said he also had a great time and he'll never forget it.

"It was really amazing. He's such a stand-up guy. It's awesome to see and he's just such a nice guy."
